Auns — The AP-to-Damage Engine Piece

Source: Theory | Confidence: Tested | Category: Midgame

AP-to-self-damage is a feature not a bug. Willpower bypasses exhaust. Fused under any demon = 2 attacks per turn for 0 AP. Ronove combo = infinite sustain engine.

Why Auns Works

Auns looks like it has a downside passive: "When this would spend X AP, deal X Fixed Damage to Auns instead." Paying HP instead of AP sounds terrible. But combined with Willpower and the right fusion partner, Auns becomes one of the most powerful engine pieces in the game.

Key Mechanics

AP cost becomes HP cost. Every ability the fused demon uses costs HP instead of AP. This frees AP for other demons on your team, or lets the fused demon act even at 0 AP.

Willpower breaks the exhaust bottleneck. "0 AP, 1x: Ready and deal 3 Fixed Damage to Auns." Most demons attack once per rest period because they exhaust. Willpower readies Auns (or the fused demon) for free, enabling a second attack every turn. The 3 self-damage is the price — but with the right fusion partner, it's free.

The self-damage is a feature. Any ability that triggers on "dealing damage" (like Ronove's lifesteal) treats Auns' self-damage as a damage event. The self-damage feeds other passives.

Fusion Value

Auns is primarily a bottom card fusion piece:

  • fHP=3, fPWR=1, fCP=2 — decent stats

  • The AP-to-damage passive activates as bottom card

  • Willpower is accessible as a fused ability

  • Any demon fused with Auns gets: 2 attacks per turn, 0 AP cost, at the price of self-damage

The Ronove + Auns Combo (S-Tier)

The optimal pairing. Ronove on top, Auns on bottom:

  • Every self-damage instance triggers Ronove's heal

  • Net self-damage per turn: 0 (all healed)

  • Net AP spent: 0 (all converted to self-damage then healed)

  • Output: 10 damage + team healing per turn, indefinitely

Other Fusion Partners

Auns under ANY demon gives 2 attacks per turn for 0 AP. Strong with:

  • High-PWR demons: More damage per free attack

  • Demons with on-attack triggers: Double triggers per turn

  • Demons with exhaust-gated abilities: Willpower readies for a second use

Without a heal partner like Ronove, the self-damage accumulates (~7 per turn). A 15 HP fused demon survives ~2 turns. Still worth it for burst.

Weaknesses

  • Self-damage kills without healing. Without Ronove or external healing, the fused demon dies in ~2 turns.

  • HP check required. Auns passive only fires if remaining HP >= AP cost. Low HP = forced to spend AP normally.

  • Normal speed. No contract priority advantage.

  • Weak solo. 9 HP, 3 PWR base stats are mediocre. Auns needs fusion.

Tier: B

Previously rated D (self-damage looked like a pure downside). Willpower's exhaust bypass and the Ronove combo reveal Auns as a premier engine piece. Two full tiers up — the biggest re-evaluation in the tier list.
